The Attorney General is seeking applications from qualified persons for appointment as Acting Commissioners of the Land and Environment Court of NSW. There are a number of positions available.
Acting Commissioners are allocated to exercise the jurisdiction of the Court to conduct conciliations, mediations and hearings of certain types of matters in Class 1, 2 and 3 of the Court’s jurisdiction. The most common types of matters are environmental planning and protection appeals and local government appeals in Class 1 and 2. Acting Commissioners with appropriate knowledge and experience also deal with valuation, rating and compensation matters in Class 3. Acting Commissioners will most commonly conduct matters by themselves, but on occasions they may sit with another commissioner or a judge.

As an Acting Commissioner you may be appointed for a term of up to 5 years, with potential for reappointment for further terms.
Flexible working arrangements are also available including the ability to work on a full-time, part-time, part-year or other flexible basis.
